Introducing the actors in the love story: Mr. Regular guy

The regular guy- the guy next door. The non-threatening masculinity. Sometimes aloof but makes up with the innocence and the 'good boy'ness...The kind of guy your parents will love, you tell yourself. And your friends will like....And yet the kind of guy most intimate of your friends will warn you against to your great annoyance. After all the 21-year-old you are convinced that they found the Mr. Right- Mr. Right ticks all the boxes. He does not want space, he does not want freedom, he does not want time to think, he is not thinking about political and ideological positions- making the world complicated.  He has no commitment issues, and he is the one that brings up the M-word and the ideas about meeting parents, getting to know your family etc. What is not to like?  He talks about future like no other guy does, he talks about growing old with you. The point is a thoroughly likeable Mr Regular guy. He says he is apolitical- off course.  And prides himself with going to a protest against Reservation/Affirmative action. Merit he says must be respected and we must stand up against reservation.  You stop for a minute and wonder as your Social Stratification professor once said "institutionalised discrimination" ...but remind yourself about the healthy-ness of multiple perspectives...democracy afterall in relationships is to be cherished.
